ExpressPCB Celebrates 20th Anniversary
November 10, 2018 | ExpressPCBEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Where were you in 1998? Chances are you were hearing about a new search engine tool called Google, you may have seen the movie “Titanic,” you may have just bought a new computer with Windows 98 or the just introduced iMac from Apple. You may have cheered about the International Space Station or been excited that snowboarding was a new sport in the winter Olympics.
Thousands of you also took advantage of downloading a free-to-use CAD tool called ExpressPCB. November 11, 2018 is an exciting milestone as the company celebrates 20 years of providing simple printed circuit board design software with a seamless manufacturing order process built right in to the tool.
For two decades, ExpressPCB has provided free PCB schematic and layout design software to engineers, hobbyists, makers, students, and more. Miniboard, Protopro, and variations of these offerings have stood the test of time. Using the same manufacturing facility since day one, ExpressPCB has managed to continue to grow in spite of fierce competition for the prototype circuit board market. The software distinguished itself as the first to provide design rules coupled with PCB manufacturing with a 24-hour build time as standard. Over the years, the design/manufacturing options have continued to evolve to meet customer demands; while still maintaining ease of use, and ability to provide low-cost, high quality PCBs that have always been made in the USA.
“It is amazing to think back through all the changes we have seen in technology in the past 20 years, with how electronics and PCB’s have integrated into all aspects of our lives. We are proud to have helped nearly 100,000 customers from all industries around the globe shape the reality we live in today, and the future we dream of tomorrow,” says Michael Hebda, ExpressPCB product manager
Our dedication to our customers and their needs remains a top priority, and has helped us build partnerships that last. We have walked hand-in-hand with many of our customers for the entire 20 years we’ve been in business. Whether they are experienced engineers with Fortune 500 companies, or students and makers beginning their journey, our goal is to provide the best service, high quality, and on-time products customers have come to expect.
“I have been using the service for over 18 years, for rapid prototyping, and small production runs. I think the ease of use and quality/price/speed are most compelling. The employees at ExpressPCB really make the difference, as they provide excellent support for any questions that come up,” says James Edward Smith, senior embedded systems engineer.
Changes in technology and software over the years have been monumental, and ExpressPCB continues to provide time tested, stable, and quality solutions for our customers. Look for upcoming specials in our advertisements and e-mail as we celebrate 20 years in business. We look forward to helping pave the way to tomorrow.
