IEEE Council on EDA Hosts Opening ICCAD Reception
October 22, 2008 | Business WireEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) will host the opening reception of this year's International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD) Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. in the Doubletree Hotel's Sierra Ballroom in San Jose, California.
The yearly networking event is meant to provide ICCAD attendees access to the Electronics Industry's most respected technical leaders. It will start with a brief introduction from CEDA President John Darringer of IBM Corporation, followed by brief descriptions of CEDA activities by various committee chairs.
Dr. Giovanni De Micheli from Ecole Polytèchniquè Federale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland, will discuss "Biology and the Environment: Frontiers for EDA?," a talk sponsored by CEDA, Tuesday, November 11, from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Sisikiyou Ballroom. He will illustrate how EDA and CAD technologies are well-positioned to impact biological and environmental systems with complexities far beyond those in human-engineered systems.
Additionally, CEDA will host an EDA Bloggers "Birds-of-a-Feather" Meeting Wednesday, November 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Fir Ballroom. This session serves as a follow on to a similar event held at this year's Design Automation Conference and is intended to promote blogging. Attendees will discuss how blogging can help EDA companies and designers, including ways to fill the void left by the absence other media. They will hear about the experiences of seasoned bloggers and identify ways to foster blogging.
All are offered free of charge and are open to all ICCAD attendees. To learn more about CEDA and these events, visit www.c-eda.org or www.iccad.com for more details.
About the IEEE Council on EDA
The Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) is an IEEE Council formed in 2005 by the IEEE Technical Activities Board and serves as IEEE's focal point for multiple EDA disciplines. Its goal is to bring increased value to IEEE members by coordinating EDA activities, enabling new initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary research and recruiting young talent to EDA. CEDA's responsibilities include sponsorship of the Design Automation Conference (DAC) and the International Conference on Computer Aided Design (ICCAD), technical publications such as the Transactions on CAD and the Distinguished Speaker Series. IEEE Societies sponsoring CEDA include the IEEE Antennas and Propagation, Computer, Circuits and Systems, Electron Devices, Microwave Theory and Techniques, and Solid State Circuits Societies.
