By Wei Chen, I-Connect007Apple's New Products to Benefit Hon Hai, Quanta, and Asus
Investment bank FBR's research report pointed out Apple plans to issue its new products - the new low-price iPod Nano and other new iPod products. The bank predicts the output of Apple products -- including iPhone, iPod, handsets and other PCs -- will be lifted by 10 to 20 percent, which should benefit EMS providers such as Hon Hai, Quanta, Asus and Inventec.
Apple's 2.0 version of its 3G iPhone will be available to consumers on July 11. Suppliers imply the number of orders for the new iPhone is 18 million units this year. Apple has Hon Hai, Quanta, and Asus as its PCB assembly providers and Inventec, Guanta, and Hon Hai as its iPod manufacturer, while Hon Hai is the sole iPhone assembly provider.
TPT Buys Stake in Yangan;Becomes Largest Optoelectronic Board Maker
Rumor came recently that TPT intended to buy stake in Yangan. After Yangan's stock price hardened for four days, it has been clear that TPT will take over Yangan's NT $450 million fund raising case to hold 22.69 percent of Yangan's shares in total, becoming the largest shareholder of the company. Thus, TPT also becomes the largest optoelectronic board manufacturer.
Affected by the unfavourable atmosphere this year, Yangan suffered a loss of NT $0.88 per share in the first quarter this year. Looking at the second quarter, vice general manager Mr. Zhao Ronghua said there would be a narrower loss but very little chance of making a profit. Driven by TPT's help, the company projects to turn a profit in the third quarter. He said, the integration provides both companies with a win-win situation. To TPT, Yangan's 600-700 thousand square feet capacity in mainland China would just meet the need of the company's expansion in the near future and the total capacity of two companies in mainland China adds up to 1.7 million square feet. In the meantime, Yangan will benefit from TPT's management expertise to boost its profitability.
Gia Tzoong and Everlight Broke Up
After Everlight's subsidiary transferred its holdings in Gia Tzoong, it resigned automatically from the board of the company and terminates the relationship between the two companies.
Gia Tzoong is medium-size PCB maker with 300 thousand square feet monthly capacity. Its LED radiation aluminium substrate has achieved several international patents, which drew LED maker Everlight's attention last year. Everlight's subsidiary became board member of Gia Tzoong and raised the possibility of getting into strategic alliance, which is now impossible.Source: PCBCityNews in China published last weekDynamic PCB Applies for Listing on Taiwan Stock Market PCB maker Dynamic PCB recently held a board meeting and approved the application to be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. With this action, the company became one of the few PCB makers in Taiwan to apply for a direct listing.
An increased number of PCB makers, IC substrate makers and related manufacturers have applied for OTC listings in recent years.
Last year, Global Brand Manufacture, Career Technology, ITEQ and Topoint turned OTC to be listed on the stock market. Only Nanya applied to be listed directly the year before.
Dynamic PCB has shifted focus to notebook, TFT-LCD and network communication-use PCBs from motherboard-use PCB products to diversify its businesses. The company's HDI segment is also seen a boost in performance.
The company applied to be an OTC company in 2004 and 2005, but withdrew in both cases. Gia Tzoong Reports Improved Performance in June; Jiangmen Plant Operational in July Taiwan-based PCB maker, Gia Tzoong, reports improved company performance in June. The facility's main focus will be the production of sample boards.
