DesignCon 2021 Kicks Off With a Family Reunion
August 17, 2021 | Andy Shaughnessy, Design007 MagazineEstimated reading time: 1 minute
It’s been a long 18 months since DesignCon 2020, and we’re all different people, and a different industry. So, it seems only fitting that DesignCon 2021 held a Family Reunion banquet at the end of the first day of the conference at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
It was great seeing old friends and hearing their tales about learning to work from home for the first time, away from the lab that they love. Some engineers brought parts of the lab home; others tried to sneak into the lab against company orders. Everyone learned to adapt, which this industry is known for.
A good number of attendees at the Family Reunion were from the PCB design side of things. That’s in keeping with this year’s theme: “Where the chip meets the board.” There’s more PCB design curriculum than ever before, and quite a few PCB-related exhibitors on the show floor.
Everyone is eager to re-connect—Editor Nolan Johnson and I were cutting interviews five minutes after we got to the show. It’s been a long time without the person-to-person interaction, and we realized more than ever, we all need it. It’s great to be back.
We’re here for the duration of the show. Check back for more updates.
