Altium Declines Autodesk’s $3.9 Billion Offer
June 7, 2021 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
According to the overnight newswires, software giant Autodesk announced its intentions to acquire PCB design software developer Altium. In a June 6, 2021 press release from PRNewswire, Autodesk “confirmed that it has submitted a non-binding proposal to acquire all outstanding shares of common stock of Altium Limited.”
In a June 7, 2021 release, carried by Reuters among others, Altium rejected the bid, valued at US$3.9 billion, but “kept the door open for a higher offer as its shares leapt.”
The two press releases suggest that a deal could still be struck between the two major players in the design software marketplace.
