Proteus Users Can Access EMA's Ultra Librarian 14 Million-Part Database

EMA Design Automation announced the availability of Ultra Librarian symbols, footprints, and 3D models for PCB designers using the Labcenter Electronics Proteus Design Suite. “Adding Ultra Librarian support for Proteus users means a whole new set of additional designers can save valuable design time by downloading verified library content rather than creating it from scratch,” said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA. “This gets us one step closer to our goal of providing the ‘Gold Standard’ of PCB content for all electronics designers.”

The Proteus Design Suite is a complete EDA software solution for professional PCB design, comprising schematic capture, microcontroller simulation, and PCB layout.  With this latest update to Ultra Librarian, Proteus users will be able to export symbols and footprints in the Proteus format from UltraLibrarian.com or the Ultra Librarian desktop software.  Coinciding with the Ultra Librarian update, Labcenter is releasing Proteus version 8.8 that includes updates to their model import capability.  In this new version, models are checked for compatibility with Proteus during import with the results shown on the import log.  Also, large schematic parts can be split into multiple elements during the Proteus import process, and pins can also be rearranged in different positions around the component body.

“Our Proteus users often need the symbols, footprints, and 3D models for the constant flow of new silicon devices,” said Iain Cliffe, executive director at Labcenter Electronics Ltd. “Ultra Librarian’s rapid generation of library content should satisfy our users’ needs and also provide them with access to a huge repository of high quality CAD models.”

HyperLynx: There’s an App for That

08/05/2022 | I-Connect007 Editorial Team
I recently spoke with Todd Westerhoff, product marketing manager for signal integrity software tools at Siemens. We discussed a new capability called HyperLynx Apps that offers a new take on traditional signal and power integrity analysis, and how that fits in with the Siemens plan to put SI and PI tools into the hands of more designers early in the design cycle.

Webinar Review: Thermal Integrity of High-Performance PCB Design

Electrical and mechanical engineers may be working on the same product development teams, but they speak different languages, and they have completely different objectives. As a result, these folks almost never use the same software tools. But Cadence’s new Celsius Thermal Solver is an exception to the rule. In a new CadenceTECHTALK webinar, “How Static and Dynamic IR Drop Analysis Can Help PCB Designs and Challenges,” product manager Melika Roshandell and SerDes SI/PI engineer Karthik Mahesh Rao explain how the EE and ME can both use the Celsius Thermal Solver to achieve their disparate objectives.

The Great Divide in PCB Simulation Software

07/26/2022 | Zachariah Peterson, NWES
Today’s PCB design engineers have more layout and analysis tools at their disposal than ever before. Over the years we’ve seen layout tools become more automated, rules-driven, and more integrated. Now we even have integration between design tools from different vendors and ranging across domains, starting with basic circuit design, and spanning up to PLM and ERP integration. It really is a great time to be a designer.
